Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC), an enterprise of the Ministry of Oil, Government of Iraq becomes the first company in Iraq certified by VIME for ISO 9001:2008 quality system certification. IDC is a large company having 4500 personnel and responsible for over 36 oil wells drilling and maintenance. The audit was done in two stage from August 26 to 29, 2012 and again from October 14 to 18, 2012 by a team of 3 VIME auditors. Besides the corporate head-office Baghdad, audit was conducted in Basra and Kirkuk regional offices and drilling sites. The audit was completed successfully in a very cooperative manner. This first job with a major oil sector company should be a harbinger more such work for VIME in future.

This university and all its’ affiliated institutions initiated a project in 2010 to establish ISO 9001:2008 quality management system together with the requirements of certain other standards such as IWA-2:2007 and PMDC which uniquely define requirements of education for education sector. Vinçotte International (UAE) was selected to provide certification services in 2011 after a rigorous selection process that included some leading CBs in the run.

Vinçotte Certification department carried out a very thorough and challenging audit in a professionally demanding environment. As regulations require, the audit was done in two stages for a total of 26 man-days onsite and 5 man-days offsite work. Consequently, the university and 16 institutions were certified to ISO 9001:2008 standard under BELAC accreditation. This certification has now created great credential for Vinçotte in the education sector.
